CDCP Patients
What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The CDCP is a federal program designed to make essential dental care more affordable for eligible Canadians. It helps cover services such as cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, dentures, and oral surgery. This program is especially beneficial for those without access to dental insurance.
Who qualifies for the CDCP?
To qualify, patients must:
- Not have any existing dental insurance.
- Have a family net income below $90,000.
- Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have filed their tax return for the previous year.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is now available for both younger adults and children. As of June 27, 2024, children under 18 and adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate are eligible to apply. The program also opened to seniors aged 65 and older on May 1, 2024.
The full roll-out for all other eligible Canadian residents is scheduled for 2025

What services are covered under CDCP?
The plan covers basic dental care like:
Exams, cleanings, and x-rays.
Will I have to pay anything out of pocket?
Depending on your family income, the CDCP covers between 40% to 100% of eligible dental costs. Patients with family incomes under $70,000 are fully covered, while those earning between $70,000 and $90,000 may need to cover a portion of their dental care costs.
How can I apply for CDCP?
You can apply online at Canada.ca/dental. Eligibility for seniors, adults with disabilities, and children is currently open, with full coverage for all remaining eligible Canadians set to begin in 2025.
When will I be covered?
Once you’re approved, you’ll be able to access coverage for eligible services immediately, with no need to pay the full cost upfront. Your dental provider will bill the program directly.
